1 To grow discoloured or soiled, be coarse or rough; केशा अपि विरज्यंते निःस्नेहाः किं न सेवकाः Pt. 1. 82 (where it has sense 2 also).
2 To be discontented or disaffected, to dislike, hate; चिरानुरक्तोऽपि विरज्यते जनः Mk. 1. 53; यां चिंतयामि सततं मयि सा विर- क्ता Bh. 2. 2; Bk. 18. 22.
3 To become disgusted with the world and hence to renounce all worldly attachments. −Caus. To colour, dye.
